10th Annual Walk for Warmth
Warm a Heart, Heat a Home
The 10th Annual Walk for Warmth sponsored by Roy E. Berrier & Son, and Snedeker Energy in partnership with the United Way of Mifflin-Juniata and Mifflin-Juniata Human Services, was held on Saturday, February 8th, 2020 at Kish Park. This year's Walk for Warmth raised approximately $5,000 for the Mifflin-Juniata Energy Bank. About 40 walkers braved the cold temperatures to support this worthy cause.
The event was held when temperatures were low so walkers could imagine what families who are struggling experience. All proceeds from the Walk for Warmth benefit the Mifflin-Juniata Energy Bank in efforts of providing heat assistance to families who fail to qualify for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance program (LIHEAP) funding due to income ineligibility or those 60 or older. Often, individuals
are forced to make decisions about paying rent on time or paying heating
costs. Donations will allow Energy Bank recipients to access
funds to assist with either of these issues.
