Emergency Food Assistance

Emergency Food Assistance is Available through Central Pennsylvania Food Bank Network

The agency partners of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank are providing groceries, take-out meals and a dose of hope to people in need. Alternative distributions are scheduled at many different locations with significant precautionary procedures in place to protect clients, staff and volunteers. People who are hungry and families that rely on food assistance should still seek help when they need it. Visit the “FindFood” page on www.centralpafoodbank.org to find the closest program or call 717-547-6336 for information.

Due to a generous response from the community, we do not need any more volunteers. Those who want to help our mission, financial contributions do the most good. A virtual food drive is set up online to take donations at www.centralpafoodbank.org.

The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank is committed to meeting the elevated need that we believe will be developing as the COVID-19 situation continues, and we want our communities to know that the health of our clients, employees, volunteers, and other friends are our top priority.

2019 Campaign Raised $455,000

United Way of Mifflin-Juniata raised $455,000 during the 2019 campaign.  These funds will be used to meet local needs in the impact areas of education, income, and health. This final total exceeded the $450,000 goal. “I want to express my most sincere appreciation to everyone who supported the United Way either by contributing or assisting with solicitations,” said Oksana DeArment, Executive Director.  Mifflin and Juniata residents and businesses came together to help us reach our goal that will help many local programs to continue and in some cases increase their community offering.

The amount raised is a positive reflection of the generosity of the people who live and work in our counties.  Because of the caring power of the community we can meet the needs of the agencies providing after school programs, youth mentoring programs and support basic needs in Mifflin and Juniata Counties.

Although the 2020 Campaign does not kick off until September, the United Way is always looking for organizations and individuals with a desire to invest in the future of the Mifflin-Juniata region.  Donations can be made to the United Way of Mifflin-Juniata, 13 East Third Street, Lewistown, PA, 17044. Phone: (717) 248-9636, or visit us online at www.mjunitedway.org Thank you to everyone for helping us LIVE UNITED.

The United Way of Mifflin Juniata is dedicated to fulfilling our mission: Improving people's lives by mobilizing the caring power of the community.
