The Nurse's Pantry

For a child living in poverty or in an ALICE household, a lack of basic necessities is one of the top reasons for chronic absenteeism.

What it is: An in-school resource for clothing, toiletries and other wellness products so kids can succeed in school and in life.

How it works: Mifflin and Juniata Elementary students are introduced to The Nurse’s Pantry by the school nurse, principal, or guidance counselor. In addition to attire, The Nurse’s Pantry provides hygiene items, appropriate footwear, outerwear, undergarments and lice treatment kits to those students who need these basic necessities to attend school.

Working to ensure that all children will enter Kindergarten ready to succeed! Since 1994, SB6 has been partnering with early childhood programs, community agencies and school districts in Mifflin and Juniata Counties to build seamless transition for children and their families to kindergarten.
