Day of Caring is a traditional United Way volunteer event that kicks off our annual campaign every September.  The objectives of "Day of Caring" are;

  • Involve employees in first-hand experience with area charities.
  • Raise awareness of community needs and services.
  • Allow contributors to see where their money goes.
  • Afford employees a great opportunity to know each other outside of the workplace.

Deadline for registration: August 13, 2008

How it Works:

  • Local community agencies and non-profits identify project needs to United Way.
  • Companies and organizations identify their interest in participating in Day of Caring to United Way.
  • United Way then links companies and projects together and manages the process.  Examples of projects include; painting, gardening, building a playground or storage shed for an agency.
  • Teams spend a day working on-site on the project.

When?  Wednesday September 17th, 2008.

Why?  Day of Caring is an unforgettable, hands-on experience, you get to actively improve our community while spending quality time with co-workers.  It is a great way to see your donations to the United Way Campaign at work in the community.  Also, Volunteer Team names will appear on:

  • Media coverage wherever possible

Who?  Employees from local companies donate their time to non-profit agencies.  Volunteers will represent corporations, organized labor, media organizations, retailers, service clubs, local government, and small businesses.
