What: 2nd Annual Walk for Warmth. One or three
mile fixed-route walk-a-thon to raise money for the
Mifflin-Juniata Energy Bank. When: Saturday,
February 11, 2012
Registration begins at 9:00 am / Opening Ceremony at
9:30am / Walk begins at 10:00am
Where: Derry Township Community Park, Burnham, PA
Who: You, your friends, your family, your
neighbors, your co-workers, and the Coalition of HOPES
partner agencies. Minors can participate if accompanied by
an adult. Release forms for children will be signed during
registration.
Why: Without the Walk for Warmth, many families in
the Juniata Valley may have no heat in their homes this
winter.

Who is helped by the Walk for Warmth?
- Recipients of the Walk for Warmth funds are the poor
who are unable to work, the working poor, the elderly
and the disabled.
- Half of those who came to the Energy Bank for
heating assistance are employed- the working poor - or
have been unemployed more than three months.
- The Energy Bank is managed by the Coalition of HOPES
(Help Offering People Essential Services) – a community
partnership serving Mifflin and Juniata counties…working
together to meet the needs of those in crisis and help
them on the road to self-sufficiency. This year HOPES
has taken over 4,000 calls.
- 15% of the people contacting the Coalition of HOPES
were elderly and 3% were veterans

- The Mifflin-Juniata Energy Bank focuses our efforts
on improving delivery systems for citizens in distress,
eliminating the need to make multiple phone calls to
different resources, and preventing duplication of
